Grants and Writing Resources for Bandung Institute of Technology

On 10 October 2026, three undergraduates in ITB's Industrial Engineering program were named first-place winners of the Business Case Competition at the Indonesian Civil and Environmental Festival (ICEF) 2026, hosted by IPB University in Bogor. Their entry, "BPS 2.0: The Second Furnace," worked from a case study of a steel producer. It proposed solar power, furnace upgrades and the reuse of steel slag to improve energy efficiency and cut carbon emissions.

Outstanding Students and Competition Wins

ITB's Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa) selects the students it puts forward in the national Mahasiswa Berprestasi program. At the Mapres ITB 2026 final, held on 28 March 2026 in the East CC IPTEKS Auditorium on the Ganesha campus, twelve finalists from different faculties and schools gave a creative idea presentation and an English speech and had their achievements verified. Eight judges, academics and practitioners, scored them on achievements, ideas and English. The results were then to go to LLDIKTI Region IV for the next stage.

The ITB news office files reports of student wins under #prestasi mahasiswa. Entries from 2026 include a first place in the Asia Pacific round of the Imperial Barrel Award Program and a geological engineering team's win at Mineral Clash for work on rare earth elements.

Ganesha Talent and GEM-ITB Scholarships

The Chemical Engineering program posted a registration notice for semester 1-2024/2025 covering the Ganesha Talent Assistantship (GTA) and GEM-ITB scholarships for new and ongoing students. It lists five GTA types. GTA 100 PPSM covers the unified bachelor's and master's program. GTA 50 covers the master's program for ITB bachelor's graduates, and GTA 50 Ongoing covers master's and doctoral programs. GTA RG is for doctoral study recommended by an ITB expertise group, and GT-IF is for master's and doctoral study by foreign nationals.

The same notice lists two GEM-ITB scholarships for multidisciplinary programs. The master's scholarship covers battery materials, health technology and Science Education 4.0. The doctoral scholarship covers battery materials in the Nano Science and Technology program or the Metallurgy option of the Mining Engineering doctoral program.

Where Research Appears

ITB publishes its scholarly journals in mathematics, engineering, design, pharmacy, planning and sport science, among them the Journal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences and the Journal of Engineering and Technological Sciences. Wimba: Jurnal Komunikasi Visual, run by a research group in the Faculty of Art and Design, names students alongside educators, researchers and professionals as the people it wants in its discussions.

Library Classes and Thesis Submission

The ITB Library runs a Kelas Literasi Informasi on three research tools: Publish or Perish for tracing citations, Mendeley for references and citation formatting, and VOSviewer for mapping a research field. Students sign up through Webpac with an ITB Account under Jadwal Literasi. Installation guides for Zotero and Mendeley are on the citation management page.

Before graduation, authors of a tugas akhir, thesis or dissertation send the library one PDF with the cover, the approval sheet signed by the supervisor and the abstract. A final, signed manuscript goes in as a complete file for the repository. Finished work is held in the ITB Digital Library, where the public can read theses and dissertations without logging in.
