Grants and Writing Resources for Bellevue University

At the Nebraska FBLA-Collegiate Conference in Kearney in March 2025, four Bellevue business students brought home two first-place finishes, in Finance Case Study and Management Case Study, plus two third-place finishes and an FBLA Who's Who Award. Their top-five finishes sent them on to the national leadership conference in Dallas. In the classroom, the Bruins volleyball team kept a year-long GPA of at least 3.3 in 2025-26 and earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 13th time.

Help With Writing

The Writing Center sits in Room 439 of the Freeman/Lozier Library and stays open year-round. A consultant can meet in person or over Zoom, or read a submitted file and send written feedback later, so online students get the same help. Sessions cover brainstorming, organization, style, voice and grammar, and the center keeps an APA Style Help Center with sample papers, templates and 30-minute workshops. Every student also has round-the-clock access to Grammarly Premium.

Appointments are booked through BRUIN Connect under Academic Support Appointments. The library's Writing Center guide collects resources for English language learners alongside general writing and citation help.

Scholarships

Bellevue's 2026-27 scholarship list names 19 awards. Most require financial need, and many are limited to Nebraska or Iowa residents. Two name graduate students outright. The Accounting Faculty Scholarship covers undergraduate accounting majors as well as MBA students with an accounting concentration and M.S. in Accounting students, and the Nebraska Society of CPAs Scholarship supports Nebraska-resident accounting students who plan to sit for the CPA exam. Graduate applicants need at least a 3.0 GPA.

Business Competitions

In March 2024 Bellevue's business students won an Award of Excellence at the state conference for reactivating the university's FBLA-Collegiate chapter. That June, three of its students placed in the top five at FBLA-Collegiate nationals in Orlando, fifth in Foundations of Management and fourth in Management Case Study, in a competition with more than 100 event categories.

Library Research Support

The Freeman/Lozier Library's Personal Librarian Program pairs a student with one librarian for their whole time at Bellevue, for help choosing databases, building search strategies and formatting citations. Quicker questions go to Ask a Librarian, by 24/7 chat, a Zoom appointment or the reference desk. Research by the university community can be added to the Bellevue University Institutional Repository, which the library describes as an open-source record that members of the community can read and contribute to.
