Grants and Writing Resources for Brenau University
Brenau's competitive cheer team scored 90.2750 points to win the 2026 NCA NAIA All-Girl Championship in April, its third national title in a row. At Honors Convocation that same month, the Baxter-Bryan Scholarship for 2026-27 went to a psychology major from Poland, a member of the swim team who placed ninth in the individual medley at the 2026 NAIA national championship.
The IIC Symposium
In April 2024, undergraduates, graduate students and faculty presented research at Brenau's annual Innovation, Inquiry & Creativity Symposium. The event was renamed in 2023 from the Brenau University Research Symposium, and the new name brought creative arts and innovation-focused work into the program. The 2024 edition ran at the Downtown Campus during Alumni Reunion Weekend, with posters and talks in fine arts and humanities, education, health and science, and business and communication, all available in person and on Zoom.
Abstracts from the symposium are published each year in the Brenau University Research Symposium Proceedings.
Honors, Scholarships and The Elixir
The Baxter-Bryan Scholarship is Brenau's highest academic recognition for a Women's College student. Combined with state and institutional aid, it covers full tuition, room and board for the senior year. The scholarships page also lists the Brenau Presidential Award, a competitive full-tuition award for applicants strong in leadership and academics. At the 2026 Honors Convocation the Baxter-Bryan runner-up received the Sidney O. Smith Jr. Scholarship, and four other finalists received Provost Scholarships.
Students in the Honors Program take at least three foundational seminars from the HN 210W to HN 260W series and complete at least three Challenge Curriculum elements. Options include presenting research at a Brenau or outside conference, competing in mediation tournaments or Model Arab League, and the HN 499W Honors Capstone. Student creative work appears in The Elixir, the annual student-produced literature and arts magazine. Its 2020-21 issue, the first fully digital edition, carried more than 60 works and added dance performances for the first time.
Writing Center and Dissertation Support
The University Writing Center in Room 112 of the Trustee Library is free to every Brenau student. Undergraduate peer tutors and graduate-level professional tutors hold 30- to 60-minute sessions by appointment or during walk-in hours, covering prewriting, thesis statements, grammar, quotation integration and citations. Appointments can be booked through Brainfuse, which sits inside each Canvas course.
Graduate students get free help with coursework and shorter assignments. Theses, dissertations and capstones go to Graduate Editing Services, where Writing Center graduate tutors working independently give feedback on grammar, structure, tone and APA or MLA format for $25 an hour, paid to the editor. Students on the online Ed.D.'s All But Dissertation pathway, built for students who reached candidacy at another institution, move through four dissertation advisement courses, from the literature review and proposal to data collection and preparation for the oral defense, with an advisor and faculty mentor. In the Doctor of Occupational Therapy, students spend three semesters building a capstone project and carry it out during an on-site placement of at least 14 weeks. The results are shared publicly.
Our editors handle the final pass on papers, theses and dissertations, checking grammar, consistency and format before you submit. See our Brenau University dissertation and thesis editing and Brenau University essay editing pages, or write to editors@editorsforstudents.com.
