Grants and Writing Resources for Clark Atlanta University
NASA's University Student Research Challenge picked a Clark Atlanta project in 2025: Assured Autonomy for Human-Assisted Drone Operation, in which a team of four undergraduates is building navigation systems that let drones fly on their own in difficult environments. The students also ran a crowdfunding campaign to match the NASA grant.
Presenting Research
The Center for Undergraduate Research and Creativity runs an annual Undergraduate and Graduate Research Symposium with oral talks and posters. Performances, art, fashion, design and multimedia work can go on the program too. Projects that started in a course, an internship or community work can be submitted with a faculty adviser's help.
Each spring, seniors in visual arts, graphic design and fashion merchandising put on the week-long Art & Fashion Senior Exhibition. They run its marketing, curation and production committees themselves, and the week ends with a fashion show.
Research Funding and Programs
CURC also distributes university funds so undergraduates can travel to regional and national conferences to present original results. Chemistry and STEM students can also join a nine-week Research Experiences for Undergraduates program at the intersection of materials chemistry and data science, with work in computational modeling and data analysis.
Outside the sciences, the Labor Institute for Advancing Black Strategists, co-founded in 2024 by CAU's W.E.B. Du Bois Center for Public Policy and Jobs With Justice, trains student fellows through seminars, internships with labor organizations and mentored policy briefs. Students interested in AI can find research pathways through AIHUB@CAU, which partners with Georgia Tech and was established with a $2.79 million NSF grant.
Dissertation Support
Graduate students write with the help of the Dr. Bettye M. Clark Graduate Resource Center. The center has a Writing Lab, offers complimentary writing consultations and tutorials on exit and conceptual papers, theses and dissertations, and runs thesis and dissertation workshops.
