Grants and Writing Resources for Davenport University
Davenport's men's golf team set a school record at the UIndy Invitational at Broadmoor, as the university reported on Sept. 23, 2026. The Panthers shot 274, 287 and 278 for a 54-hole total of 839, ten strokes better than the previous record from the 2024 NCAA regional, and finished second in a 17-team field, two shots behind McKendree. A senior won the individual title at 13 under par. Two teammates also placed in the top 10.
Scholarships That Ask for an Essay
Several Davenport Foundation scholarships require a short essay, emailed to the Foundation as an attachment with the student's name, ID and the scholarship name. Awards go first-come, first-served to students enrolled at least half-time, and continuing students need a 2.8 cumulative GPA. Students should also file the FAFSA, since its data is used in awarding some of these funds.
The prompts differ by fund. The Study Abroad Annual Scholarship, open on every campus, asks for up to 500 words on why a student wants to study abroad and how the experience relates to personal and professional goals. Freshmen at the Lettinga Campus can answer a different question for the Alumni Scholars Legacy Endowment: whose legacy do you most admire, and why? Full-time accounting majors with a 3.2 GPA who have completed Intermediate Accounting (ACC 301) write a single paragraph on leadership for the Hungerford Annual Accounting Scholarship, and the accounting faculty review those applications.
Graduate Scholarships and Research Review
Davenport lists 45 graduate programs. New graduate students are matched to a merit scholarship by bachelor's GPA. The Medallion Scholarship pays up to $2,000 a year for a 3.8 or higher, the Scholars Scholarship up to $1,500 for 3.5 to 3.79, and the Graduate Scholarship up to $1,000 for 3.0 to 3.49; each renews while the student keeps satisfactory academic progress. Employees of partner organizations can also qualify for Partner Tuition Grants, which are calculated from tuition charges and vary with each partnership agreement.
The Master of Science in Nursing includes capstone and clinical experiences, and students can round out the degree with a special project or an MSN thesis. All Davenport research involving human participants, from surveys to biomedical samples, must be submitted to the Institutional Review Board. Researchers complete CITI training with a DU email address and file the Individual Research Review (HSR-1) form.
Library and Tutoring Help
Students can reach a librarian at any hour through the 24/7 chat of the Margaret D. Sneden Digital Library, whose library guides include APA support for writing assignments. The library's help page adds email, text and online research sessions booked with a librarian.
Tutoring is 100% online, with drop-in or scheduled sessions. Spanish-speaking tutors cover various subjects.
