Grants and Writing Resources for Delft University of Technology

On 28 August 2025 the Brunel Solar Team, a TU Delft student team, crossed the line in Adelaide in first place after five days and more than 3,000 km across the Australian outback. The win brought an eighth world solar racing title home to Delft, in the 25th anniversary year of the team's Nuna car.

Help With Writing

The TU Delft Writing Centre, based at the Institute for Languages and Academic Skills in the Technology, Policy and Management building, offers free one-to-one coaching to all bachelor's and master's students. Sessions last 45 minutes, on campus or online, and you can send a few pages ahead of time to show the issues or questions you'd like to discuss. Coaches don't edit or rewrite your text.

PhD candidates book the same way through Writing coaching for PhD students, which covers structure, academic style, paragraphing and referencing. Several times a year the Centre also runs two-day PhD Writing Days, set aside for getting actual pages written.

Research Funding

FAST (Funding Ambitious TU Delft Students) is open to every TU Delft student and funds study and research projects abroad, competitions, and conference presentations. Architecture and the Built Environment students can apply to the Ir. Henk Westra Fund for Public Housing, which gives up to €2,000 toward graduation-project costs such as publication, research travel, and conference participation.

For doctoral researchers in one of TU Delft's 24 AI Labs, the North America Travel Grant pays up to €4,500 toward a three- to four-month research stay at a university in the United States or Canada.

Where Theses Are Published

Bachelor's and master's theses go into the TU Delft Repository alongside student reports and PhD theses, and the Library publishes upload guides for both. Searching it is the quickest way to see what a finished thesis in your programme looks like.

TU Delft OPEN Publishing is the university press. It lists 12 journals and more than 160 books, among them the European Journal of Transport and Infrastructure Research and the Journal of Coastal and Hydraulic Structures. Corresponding authors with a demonstrable working relationship with TU Delft can apply to the Library's Open Access Fund, which pays article processing charges up to €2,350 per article in fully open access journals; students can't use it.

For a final edit before submission, our PhD-level editors work with TU Delft students at every level. See our Delft University of Technology dissertation and thesis editing and Delft University of Technology essay editing pages, or write to editors@editorsforstudents.com.
