Grants and Writing Resources for Fudan University
Fudan Law School's team finished second of 36 at the mainland China rounds of the 17th Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot, held in Sichuan in April 2025, and qualified for the international rounds in Frankfurt. One of its members was named Best Oralist in the final.
Moot Court Competitions
That runner-up finish was Fudan's fourth straight podium at the Frankfurt moot's national rounds, after third place in 2022, first in 2023, and third in 2024. The hearings are held in English before arbitrators drawn partly from abroad. In 2022, an eleven-member team of LL.B., LL.M., and J.M. students took first prize at the 20th CIETAC Cup International Commercial Arbitration Moot.
Research Abroad for Doctoral Students
PhD students in the humanities and social sciences can apply to the Graduate School's international visiting program for humanities and social science PhD students (复旦大学文科博士生国际访学专项资助项目) for a stay of six to twelve months at an overseas university or research institute. The visit has to tie closely to the dissertation, and the applicant must already have passed the proposal stage and hold a formal invitation.
Funding comes from the Huo Family Foundation through the Fudan University Education Development Foundation. It covers one round-trip airfare and a monthly stipend at China Scholarship Council rates, generally capped at US$25,000 in total. Trainees in Fudan's Zhuobo (卓博) program get priority when applications are otherwise equal.
Presenting at International Conferences
The Graduate School also runs a funding program for graduate students attending international academic conferences (研究生国际学术会议资助项目). The notice includes a template for the summary report a graduate student writes after the conference.
