Grants and Writing Resources for Gadjah Mada University
At the 2026 Yogyakarta Provincial Student Arts Festival (Peksimiprov DIY), held from 18 June to 2 July, UGM students won eight awards. Two were for writing: first place in short story writing and second place in poetry writing. The festival is also the official selection event for the province's entrants at the 18th National Student Arts Festival (Peksiminas), and UGM's Director of Student Affairs said the winners would go on to represent Yogyakarta there.
Student Research Teams and PIMNAS
UGM qualified 43 Student Creativity Program (PKM) teams for PIMNAS 2026, the 39th National Student Scientific Week, hosted by Diponegoro University in Semarang. No other university qualified as many. Eleven of the teams entered exact-science research (PKM-RE) and eight entered social science and humanities research (PKM-RSH). One entered PKM-GFT, the scheme for written futuristic ideas.
The Directorate of Student Affairs gives PKM teams mentoring, achievement incentives and funding assistance. Its Student Creativity Subdirectorate posts competition calls and news of student wins.
Scholarships and Graduate Funding
The Graduate School (Sekolah Pascasarjana) announced its 2026 education scholarship as aid toward the single tuition fee (UKT) for new students in the 2026/2027 odd-semester intake. Recipients were chosen after an administrative screening and an interview. They may not postpone their studies or hold a scholarship from another institution.
International applicants to master's and doctoral programs can seek the Gadjah Mada International Fellowship (GMIF), which UGM extends with special emphasis on candidates from ASEAN countries other than Indonesia and from the Global South. Students will find scholarship calls on the Directorate of Student Affairs scholarship page, which in 2026 carried programs from outside funders such as BAZNAS and the Danantara Indonesia Trust.
Consultations at the Library
The UGM Library and Archives offers Individual Academic Consultation, a confidential session of 30 minutes to an hour, usually in person. Students bring a journal article, skripsi, thesis or dissertation in progress, a plan to submit to a reputable international journal, or a seminar or proposal presentation to rehearse. Questions outside the library's expertise go to other specialists.
Groups of five to fifteen meet for 90 minutes in the Mini Class Literasi Informasi. Librarians show how to search UGM's subscribed e-resources and use AI tools to find references. Sessions also give hands-on practice in Mendeley and Zotero, and in bibliometric methods for studying research trends.
Dissertation Stages and the Thesis Collection
The Graduate School lists the doctoral stages in order. A dissertation proposal seminar comes first, then a comprehensive examination that asks for TPA and TOEFL scores. Two research results seminars and a dissertation assessment follow. An eligibility review and a closed examination lead to the yudisium.
UGM final projects, theses and dissertations are held in the library's Electronic Theses and Dissertations service and read on computers in the service room on the second floor of Gedung L5. UGM students and staff make reservations through Simaster. File requests and similarity checks go through an online form. The library's list of UGM journals and periodicals points to the university journal portal and to student titles such as Cogito: Jurnal Mahasiswa Filsafat and the student newspaper SKM UGM Bulaksumur.
A skripsi, thesis or journal manuscript that is close to submission can go to our editors for a last check of grammar, consistency and format. See our Gadjah Mada University dissertation and thesis editing and Gadjah Mada University essay editing pages, or write to editors@editorsforstudents.com.
