Grants and Writing Resources for Kennesaw State University
Kennesaw State's construction management and architecture students took first place in the Custom Home Building category of the National Association of Home Builders Student Competition at the International Builders' Show, finishing ahead of 36 universities, as KSU reported in March 2026. The team first submitted a written proposal covering site selection, home design and a construction and financial plan. Six students then presented it live to judges playing investors, with no reading from slides.
Where Undergraduate Work Appears
The Office of Undergraduate Research held its Symposium of Student Scholars in both fall 2025 and spring 2026. According to its 2025-26 annual report, the spring 2026 edition on the Kennesaw Campus showed 499 projects: 33 oral presentations and performances, 401 posters and visual displays, and 65 virtual presentations. The fall 2025 edition on the Marietta Campus drew 1,085 attendees.
Finished work can go to the Kennesaw Journal of Undergraduate Research, a peer-reviewed journal now in its 13th volume. It takes work by KSU undergraduates or student teams, and each piece needs at least one faculty mentor as collaborator or sponsor. Research articles appear beside fiction, historical analyses, book reviews, film analyses, business models, photography and artwork.
URCA Funds
Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities (URCA) Funds come in three kinds. A Conference Registration & Travel URCA pays up to $1,500 once a student has been accepted to present at a domestic conference. The Supplies, Incentives, & Publication Costs URCA pays up to $1,000 for materials, participant incentives and publication fees. Research Stipend URCAs pay up to $500 each, with a cap of $1,000 per student per academic year, and only ten are awarded per semester.
Applicants write a project narrative of no more than 750 words in five sections, and their PI must be full-time KSU faculty, staff or a postdoctoral researcher. Students who use AI tools need PI approval and must include a disclosure. Every recipient is listed on an abstract and presents at the Symposium of Student Scholars.
Graduate Travel and Fellowship Help
For the 2026-27 academic year, the Graduate College Research Travel Award pays up to $800 for a research paper, oral presentation, fine arts performance or pedagogy presentation at a domestic conference. Posters and panels get up to $500, and virtual presentations up to $300 for the conference fee. Applicants need a 3.0 GPA and at least six credit hours, or thesis or dissertation hours, in the semester the funds are used, and they send a one-page research summary with the application.
The Graduate College's August 2026 newsletter reported $9,555 in General and Alumni Scholarships to seven graduate students for fall 2026 and announced a new Office of Graduate External Fellowships and Awards. The Office of National and International Scholarships and Fellowships works with undergraduates, graduate students and alumni. KSU applicants have won Boren, Freeman and Fulbright awards.
Writing Help and the Thesis Template
"Any writing. Any class. Every writer." is the line at the top of the KSU Writing Center page. Writing assistants meet students online or in person, in English Building Room 219 and Johnson Library Room 101. Students in fully online degree programs can choose Written Response, with feedback within 48 hours. Graduate students can set up regular appointments with a graduate writing coach, and English language learners can book an ELL specialist through the English Language Program.
The Graduate College requires its Thesis Template for every KSU thesis, and its thesis and dissertation page links the Thesis Formatting Guide and the approval forms. Final copies are uploaded to Digital Commons, which notifies the Graduate College, and they join the Dissertations, Theses and Capstone Projects collection. In fall 2026 the college's newsletter listed weekly Formatting Friday drop-ins for template questions and a virtual workshop on graduate-level writing.
Our editors give KSU theses, dissertations and papers a last pass for grammar, consistency and the Thesis Template. Visit our Kennesaw State dissertation and thesis editing and Kennesaw State essay editing pages, or email editors@editorsforstudents.com.
