Grants and Writing Resources for Molloy University

Arterial organoids and a tsunami-resilient coastal bridge were both on the program when Molloy undergraduates gave 34 presentations at the third Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference on May 1, 2026. Most talks ran in Hays Theater, with posters along the second floor of Wilbur Hall. Two years earlier the first conference had eight oral presentations and 21 posters, organized by a committee of 16 faculty members.

Presenting Research

Each spring the Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference takes posters and short oral talks from all four of Molloy's schools. Students submit a short abstract with the name of a Molloy faculty mentor. A review committee checks it against the guidelines, IRB approval included for research with human subjects, and makes the final call on format.

Molloy also holds a membership in the Council on Undergraduate Research, so individuals can join CUR at no cost.

Help With Writing

The Writing Center works with undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students at any stage of a paper. Consultants review the draft and suggest improvements, though the rewriting is left to the student. Sessions happen in person, alone or in a small group, or online through WCOnline, live or asynchronous. The main office is in the lower level of the Casey Building, and walk-in help is available at the Learning Commons on the first floor of the JET Library.

Publishing

Currently enrolled students publish prose, poetry, drama, literary reviews and criticism in The Molloy Student Literary Magazine, sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs. Volume 16 is the newest issue in its online archive.

Graduate work goes to the Theses & Dissertations collection on Molloy's DigitalCommons, which holds work from programs in business, clinical mental health, criminal justice, education, music therapy, nursing, social work and speech-language pathology. Dissertations there were published through ProQuest's ETD Administrator, and authors keep the copyright. The Office of Research, Scholarship, and Graduate Studies oversees dissertation and thesis publication.

The Honors Program

Since 2001 the Honors Program has admitted a select group of entering freshmen to themed, interdisciplinary courses that run from the classical period to the postmodern and also meet general education requirements. Nursing honors students take a medical ethics course with Honors faculty.
