Grants and Writing Resources for Post University

Post marked the 2025-26 year with 3,808 degrees and its 136th Commencement, held May 9, 2026, at the Palace Theater in Waterbury. Sixty-three of those graduates finished the Doctor of Nursing Practice. The youngest graduate was 17 and the oldest 86. Both valedictorians earned bachelor's degrees, one in legal studies and one in psychology.

Scholarships for Strong Records

Continuing campus students with high grades can apply each year for Returning Student Scholarships of $500. The named funds include the Charles H. Zwicker, Max Traurig and Equine Resource scholarships. The same page lists Post College Foundation Scholarships for Main Campus undergraduate and graduate students who live in northwest Connecticut. Applicants need at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA and write an essay. Both applications go through the Office of Student Finance.

For 2024-25 the Foundation awarded 135 scholarships worth $377,000, and it has given more than $10 million since 1990. Some money comes from outside the University. In February 2025 the Business Women's Forum of the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce Foundation gave $3,333 scholarships to three women in the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business, two sophomores and a junior, for academic excellence and leadership.

The Honors Program

The Honors Program puts undergraduates in small Honors-level classes built around discussion and individualized study, and the work earns a designation on the transcript. Outside class, the program runs theater and museum trips, business dinners and recognition banquets. Incoming freshmen who receive a 2026-27 Academic Merit Scholarship are eligible with a high school GPA of 3.2 or higher, and the top award, $25,000, goes to those at 3.8 and above.

Doctoral Projects Online

The online Doctor of Business Administration ends in a 12-credit Dissertation in Practice. In the doctoral study project courses, students obtain IRB approval, carry out the research with their chair, then defend and publish the dissertation. Most finish the degree in about three years, with two credits of residency courses along the way.

Nurses in the Doctor of Nursing Practice choose one of four leadership specializations and complete a DNP project. The degree requires 1,000 practicum hours. Up to 400 clinical hours from an MSN can transfer in, and the capstone hours accrue during scholarly work on the project.

Writing Center and Library

The Writing Center belongs to the Center for Academic Success, which is located in the Traurig Library on the Waterbury campus. Its Academic Specialists meet students in person and virtually. Students can also email a Word document for a paper review. The Writing Center site lists a 24-hour turnaround, or 48 hours for larger capstone projects and busy periods, and posts APA 7th edition guides and a template. A separate Citation Builder formats APA reference entries.

Staff at the Traurig Library and Learning Center teach basic and advanced research techniques, one-on-one or in groups, and handle database searches and interlibrary loan. Students also reach the State Virtual Library, researchIT CT, through the library.

A Dissertation in Practice, a DNP project paper or a scholarship essay can come to our editors for a last check of grammar, consistency and APA format. See our Post University dissertation and thesis editing and Post University essay editing pages, or write to editors@editorsforstudents.com.
