Grants and Writing Resources for Rider University

On October 20, 2026, the National Association of Broadcasters named 107.7 The Bronc, Rider's student-run radio station, College Radio Station of the Year at its Marconi Radio Awards in New York City. The station had drawn a record six nominations in seven years. This was its first win, and it followed the three Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Media Awards the students took home in February.

A Year-Long Research Award

The Undergraduate Research Scholar Award (URSA) guidelines for 2025 describe a year of independent research or creative work under a faculty sponsor. Applicants that year had to be matriculated, in good academic standing and pursuing a first bachelor's degree at Rider, with at least 24 Rider credits by the time the project began. Scholars usually enrolled in a three-credit independent study (XXX-490) in fall and spring and had to stay full-time.

In that 2025 cycle, awards went mainly on the merit of the proposal. The committee spread them over disciplines and colleges and normally supported no more than one project per department and two per college. Scholars filed an interim report on fall work, submitted the finished project by the last day of spring finals and presented on campus twice: a short introduction in the year they applied and a longer talk the following year. The guidelines encouraged outside presentations and, where it fit, publication.

ISCAP Day and Honors Work

ISCAP Day (Independent Scholarship & Creative Activities Presentations) invites all Rider students to present current or recent projects from a class or an independent study. Capstones and honors theses are welcome entries. Work can be research, experiments, films, musical compositions or artworks, given as an oral talk or a poster. The day also announces new URSA recipients and hears progress reports from the previous year's scholars. The URSA/ISCAP committee reviews abstracts for quality.

Rider's honors programs admit students by invitation. The Baccalaureate Honors Program is open to all majors and built on team-taught courses; the Business Honors Program takes business majors as a cohort. Students may complete both. Honors students can work with faculty on research or develop an independent project under faculty guidance, and they graduate with recognition as Honors Scholars.

The Writing Studio

The Writing Studio in the Academic Success Center helps with writing for any course at any stage of the process. Student Writing Consultants, undergraduate and graduate students trained by the Writing Studio Manager, work alongside professional tutors. Sessions run in person or over Zoom and are free to all Rider students. Appointments are booked through TracCloud.

Graduate Scholarships and Assistantships

Graduate applicants with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher qualify for the Graduate Admission Scholarship, and recipients are notified on acceptance; there is no separate application. The amount depends on the college and the number of credits taken. Fully online students and students with a graduate assistantship or corporate tuition remission are excluded.

Graduate assistants earn hourly wages for on-campus work, up to 20 hours a week in standard positions, and the department that employs them subsidizes up to six credit hours of coursework. Each semester requires a new assistantship contract. Positions are limited.

An URSA final project, an honors thesis or a graduate paper can go to our editors for a last read for grammar, consistency and format. See our Rider University dissertation and thesis editing and Rider University essay editing pages, or write to editors@editorsforstudents.com.
