Grants and Writing Resources for Rochester Institute of Technology

A campaign to get untrained bystanders to perform CPR won students in RIT's COMM 212 Public Relations course a Program Award at the Rochester chapter's 2026 PRSA PRism Awards. A second class, in COMM 253 Communication, took an Element Award; its students demonstrated software for West Virginia University's online faculty and designed custom backgrounds to make their classes more engaging.

Undergraduate Research Symposium

RIT held its 35th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in summer 2026 at the Student Hall of Exploration and Development, the SHED. It covered projects from the 2025-2026 academic year in three oral sessions and two poster sessions, opened with a keynote, and was free and open to the public, with all RIT students, faculty and staff encouraged to attend.

Liberal Arts Writing Awards

The College of Liberal Arts has given the Henry and Mary Kearse Student Writing Awards since they were endowed in 1980. Faculty committees in each of the college's departments pick the winners, from economics and history to psychology and the School of Communication. In March 2026 the college honored 18 students at its 46th annual Student Writing Awards presentation.

The Writing Center

The Writing Center sits on the first floor of Wallace Library and also meets writers online. Undergraduate and graduate consultants with backgrounds in STEM and the humanities work on everything from audience and sources to grammar and formatting, and nothing costs anything. Two Graduate Writing Consultants handle theses, dissertations and capstones; students on those projects should book ahead and bring their department's guidelines.

The University Writing Program offers instruction in English and American Sign Language. Students can also set up recurring weekly appointments.

The Thesis Repository

Most RIT theses and dissertations, along with some capstone and master's projects, are in the RIT Digital Institutional Repository, where readers can browse by college and department and download many as PDFs. Work from 2010 onward is also in ProQuest for RIT faculty, students and staff. Older theses that haven't been digitized are held in the RIT Archives.

For a final edit before submission, our PhD-level editors work with RIT students at every level. See our Rochester Institute of Technology dissertation and thesis editing and Rochester Institute of Technology essay editing pages, or write to editors@editorsforstudents.com.
