Grants and Writing Resources for Strayer University

A Strayer University student team finished first in Division II of the 2025 NSA Codebreaker Challenge, which ran from September 2025 to January 2026. Schools were grouped by how many students they entered and ranked on total points, with tasks in reverse engineering, vulnerability research, cryptography and digital forensics. Two years earlier, in a field of 450 institutions, Strayer placed sixth in the Codebreaker Challenge, its second straight year in the top 10.

Honors and Honor Societies

Strayer's Honors Program takes students with a 3.5 cumulative GPA, at least 13.5 college-level quarter credits and no academic integrity violations. Transfer students qualify after one quarter at Strayer with a 3.5, since GPAs don't carry over. Members take honors-only courses with faculty picked for the program, join an online honors community and Honors Connect events, and graduate with an honors notation on the transcript.

Seven national and international honor societies have chapters at Strayer, all by invitation. Alpha Chi's Gamma Chapter 283 in Washington, D.C., asks undergraduates for 121.5 quarter credits, 67.5 of them at Strayer, and a 3.8 GPA. Alpha Sigma Lambda is for adult undergraduates balancing school with work and home, and only Strayer credits count toward its threshold. Freshmen and sophomores can be invited to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars at 3.4. Golden Key and Phi Theta Kappa both set the bar at 3.5, and Delta Alpha Pi recognizes students with disabilities.

Help With Writing

Writing help comes through Strayer's partnership with Brainfuse. A library FAQ on submitting a paper explains that students can chat with a tutor online at any hour or drop off a draft for review within 12 hours, and the drop-off form can request a tutor experienced with multilingual writers. The more of the form a student fills in, the more targeted the comments. Strayer's student support page adds that student services coaches can help students find tutors and study groups.

Library Research

The University Library opens from iCampus or Canvas. It holds more than 25 databases with over a million resources, from peer-reviewed journals to eBooks and audiobooks, and the collections lean toward accounting, business, health services, public administration, criminal justice and information systems. Print books are kept at the Wilkes Library on the Washington, D.C., campus and circulate for 12 weeks. Interlibrary loans go through Ask Your Librarian.
