Grants and Writing Resources for Taylor's University
"Stories of Betau," a campaign built by final-year public relations students at Taylor's for their Public Relations Consultancy module, won the Student Campaign Award at the PRCA Asia Pacific Awards 2026 in Singapore. The team, from the Bachelor of Mass Communication in Public Relations and Event Management, ran it over a 14-week semester with children from SK Pos Betau in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, to raise awareness of the Orang Asli Betau community. Its Instagram content passed 230,000 views.
Undergraduate Research Abroad
Final Year Projects can travel. A Bachelor of Food Science (Honours) student whose project studied wheat bread made partly with okara, the soybean pulp left from tofu and soy milk, placed 2nd Runner-Up at the 6th International Joint Research Symposium in Agriculture and Food Security at Mae Fah Luang University in Thailand in September 2026. The field had 122 participants from 12 countries. The project was funded by a Taylor's Impact Lab grant.
Funding a PhD or Research Master's
PhD and Master by Research applicants are interviewed for Taylor's research scholarship schemes, which waive tuition in full. The top tier, Scheme A Plus, is for PhD candidates in science, medical and pharmaceutical science, engineering and computer science, and pays a monthly stipend of RM3,200 for up to 36 months with a conference allowance of up to RM3,000. Scheme A pays PhD candidates RM2,300 a month with the same conference allowance. Under Scheme B, PhD candidates receive RM1,900 a month and Master by Research candidates RM1,500.
Every scheme comes with a publishing condition: before graduating, a candidate needs at least one article accepted in a Scopus- or Clarivate-indexed journal, and Scheme A Plus asks for two.
Competitions
Computing students compete off campus as well. At XRjam FuturScape 2025, a national XR and AI hackathon, a team of two School of Computer Science students and a Cambridge A Level student took first place with Mindspace, an augmented reality tool for people with executive functioning challenges.
Support in the First Year
New undergraduates are enrolled automatically in First-Year Learning and Mentoring (FLAME), developed by Taylor's Centre for Future Learning. Each student gets a mentor. Group sessions run during Orientation and at set weeks of both semesters, and a student can ask for one-to-one time to talk through academic performance and the support they need.
If you'd like an editor's eye on a thesis chapter or a research paper before it goes out, we can help. See our Taylor's University dissertation and thesis editing and Taylor's University essay editing pages, or write to editors@editorsforstudents.com.
