Grants and Writing Resources for Tel Aviv University

A second-year physiotherapy student in the Gray Faculty of Medical Sciences won a bronze medal at the para-rowing world championships, rowing a mixed two-person boat over 2,000 metres. The university's report of 6 September 2026 (in Hebrew) says the pair repeated their Paralympic result, and that she has two years left in the degree.

Writing Help

The Division of Languages runs the Center for Language Excellence, where tutors give individual feedback on articles, academic presentations, grammar and professional writing. Sessions last 45 or 90 minutes, in the Webb building or online, and are paid, with a lower rate for TAU students. Two or three students at a similar level can book a session together. Group workshops cover writing a test essay, citations and references, and presenting to an audience. The tutors are TAU academic staff and master's students from the international program.

Research students in the Faculty of Engineering take a required, non-credit course in technical writing in English.

Rules for the Doctoral Thesis

The Academic Secretariat's PhD thesis submission procedure allows a standard monograph or a thesis built from articles. An article-based thesis needs at least three original research papers, published or accepted in leading peer-reviewed journals, with the candidate as first author in most cases; the unit's committee for research students reviews the request and recommends it to the university committee. A monograph carries title pages and abstracts in Hebrew and English, and an English thesis of either kind needs a Hebrew abstract.

Faculties add further rules. Under the Faculty of Engineering's research student regulations (November 2025, in Hebrew), the dissertation is written in English unless the unit committee approves Hebrew, and the documents the supervisor submits for judging include a confirmation that the work has been proofread and language-edited.

Doctoral Funding in Medicine

The School of Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences offers PhD scholarships with a monthly stipend and a tuition exemption. Its Scholarship Committee chooses recipients for academic excellence, within the funds available, and sets the terms each year.

Stipend holders who have an approved research proposal and have moved to the second stage of the doctorate can apply for a Ph.D. travel grant of up to $1,000 for a scientific conference. The conference has to accept the abstract as a poster or a lecture, and the grant goes only to students who present.

Honors and a Student-Edited Law Review

Founded in 1971, the TAU Law Review (Iyunei Mishpat) is the Faculty of Law's leading Hebrew journal. Outstanding law students edit it, with a faculty member as Editor in Chief, and its three issues a year carry peer-reviewed articles, notes and book reviews by professors, judges, practitioners and students.

In the Faculty of Exact Sciences, the Rector's List and Dean's List recognise top students with certificates of excellence. The faculty recommends its highest achievers for the Rector's certificate, and a few dozen undergraduates a year receive the Dean's.

When a seminar paper, thesis or dissertation needs a last proofread for grammar, consistency and format, our editors can take it on. See our Tel Aviv University dissertation and thesis editing and Tel Aviv University essay editing pages, or write to editors@editorsforstudents.com.
