Grants and Writing Resources for Texas A&M University-Victoria

In December 2025 a freshman business student competing for the A&M-Victoria Trap & Skeet Shooting Club won the top prize at the 12th Annual Tropical Memorial Shoot at the Corpus Christi Gun Club, with a High All Around score of 394 out of 400.

Where Students Present

Summer lab work in biology goes out to state conferences. In fall 2025 an A&M-Victoria student presented a study of heat shock protein 70 in the rotifer Adineta vaga, done with an associate professor of biology, at the Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium at the University of Texas at Austin. That November three students presented at the Office of Undergraduate Research Fall Conference at Lamar University, with projects on parasite proteases and the metabolism of medically significant plants and spices.

Business students argue their analysis in competition. The BBA Case Conference is part of the Management 4309 capstone course, and in fall 2025 it brought 122 students on 25 teams together over Microsoft Teams. First place went to a six-member team for its analysis of Kimberly-Clark.

Scholarships for Undergraduate and Graduate Study

The university scholarship list runs from general need and merit awards to awards tied to a major. Graduate students qualify for several of them. The MBA Scholarship goes to MBA majors with financial need, the MS CIS International Student Scholarship serves international students in computer information systems, and the Biology Graduate Assistant Scholarship pays tuition and fees for students the biology professors recommend.

A newer fund, the Dr. Robert E. "Buddy" Lee III and Jerra Odum Lee Endowed Scholarship, was announced in December 2025. It gives preference to undergraduates taking at least 12 credit hours and also considers graduate students. Its purpose is to help first-generation students.

Help With Writing and Theses

The Writing Center is part of the Center for Student Success. Undergraduates can book a face-to-face session through Penji or email a paper for written comments, and consultants read drafts in progress as well as finished class papers. The same office runs free peer tutoring and Supplemental Instruction for several core classes.

Two master's programs end in a thesis. The MFA in Creative Writing includes six credit hours of thesis work, which begin with a short proposal approved by a thesis advisor. The thesis track of the M.S. in Biomedical Sciences requires a written manuscript based on research with a faculty mentor, followed by an oral defense.

Finished theses go to the library. Under Thesis Binding & Distribution, every student books a consultation with a librarian, in person or on Microsoft Teams, before submitting the final file. The library sets the format, with 12-point Times New Roman, one-inch margins and double spacing (MFA poetry is single-spaced), and it binds three copies, for the archives, the circulating collection and the college office. The library's citation help page covers the reference side.

Before a thesis goes to the library for binding, our editors can give it a last careful read for grammar, consistency and format. See our Texas A&M University-Victoria dissertation and thesis editing and Texas A&M University-Victoria essay editing pages, or write to editors@editorsforstudents.com.
