Grants and Writing Resources for Trident University International

In July 2026 a study from Trident's Ph.D. program in health sciences, a structural equation analysis of body image, stigma and resilience among female service members, went into print in a special military issue of the AIUS Journal of Research & Scholarship.

Presenting Doctoral Research

The AIUS Virtual Research Symposium is an online showcase for doctoral students and graduates of Trident and California Southern University. Presenters may bring a concept proposal or a finished study, and faculty reviewers read the proposals blind. Presentations are recorded and posted to the symposium guide.

A Peer-Reviewed Journal

The American InterContinental University System publishes the AIUS Journal of Research & Scholarship, a free, open-access journal that charges no submission or publication fees. It takes work from AIUS faculty and students and from authors outside the system: original research, review articles, theoretical essays, write-ups of conference talks, and creative work such as fiction and poetry. The journal published its first issue in 2025, and the April 2026 issue included two poems.

Manuscripts go in as Word files in APA style with author names stripped out. The submission guide describes double-anonymous review by members of the AIUS community, mostly faculty. Accepted articles get a DOI registered with Crossref.

Scholarships and Tuition Grants

Graduates who return for a master's degree or a doctorate can use the Trident Alumni Scholarship, which takes 15% off each course. The 2026 catalog adds the conditions for doctoral students: a 3.0 cumulative GPA, at least 12 credits a year, and no discount on dissertation continuation courses.

Two full-tuition awards come through outside organizations. The Association of the United States Army Scholarship goes to AUSA members and their immediate family, up to three a year, for a bachelor's or master's program. The Army Women's Foundation Scholarship is for women who serve or have served in any component of the U.S. Army, and the foundation picks recipients from its Legacy Scholarship selectees. Separate tuition grants go to veterans and service members. For sessions starting in October 2026 or later, the Veteran Education Grant takes 10% off DBA, DHA and Ed.D. courses and 10.6% off Ph.D. courses, and the Military Education Grant takes 19.2% off Ph.D. courses.

Writing Help and the Doctoral Process

Trident students get live, one-on-one tutoring through Tutor.com, with writing help among the services. The AIUS Writing Support Center covers grammar, the parts of a paper, the writing process and APA style. Draft Coach, a Turnitin add-on for Office 365, runs grammar, citation and similarity checks.

Doctoral students work from the Trident Doctoral Resource Center. Ph.D. students write a dissertation; DBA, DHA and Ed.D. students write a doctoral study project. Both pass through a proposal defense, IRB approval, a full five-chapter manuscript and a final defense, which the catalog requires within 12 sessions. Before the oral defense, the Division of Research & Doctoral Studies gives the committee-approved manuscript a final academic review. The final process page calls ProQuest publication optional and recommends it.

The center's writing resources page asks for APA style throughout and tells students to expect several drafts before the chair approves a proposal or final manuscript. Chairs can run Recite reports to catch citation and reference errors. For methods questions, the AIUS Doctoral Research Center holds a research helpdesk on Zoom and books appointments with librarians.

Trident's doctoral writing guide accepts a professional editing service for grammar, spelling and syntax, and our editors can give a dissertation, doctoral study project or course paper that final edit for grammar, consistency and APA format.
