Grants and Writing Resources for Universidad de Guadalajara

Two mechatronics engineering students at CUValles were on the team that won the health and biotechnology category of the 2026 Premio a la Innovación Mexicana in October, for an actuated transfemoral prosthesis built with three faculty members. That same month the university honored its medalists from the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo. One of them, a physical culture and sports student at CUCS, won gold in women's doubles badminton.

Prototypes on Show

The prosthesis prize was announced at InnovaFest 2026, the Jalisco edition of a federal Secretaría de Economía platform, held at Expo Guadalajara. UdeG brought 61 prototypes by researchers and students in health, engineering and social problems. The university's InnovaFest 2026 announcement put the Premio a la Innovación Mexicana's prizes at 150,000 to one million pesos and said UdeG supplied seven of the evaluators.

Funding for International Stays

The Coordinación de Internacionalización runs the Programa de Estancias Académicas Internacionales de Especialización (ESACIES) for undergraduates, graduate students and alumni. Research stays, congresses, symposia, seminars, competitions and artistic residencies all qualify, as long as the activity is in person, outside Mexico, and lasts 30 to 120 days. Applicants need an average of at least 80, an acceptance from the host institution and a nomination from the rector of their university center. Undergraduates must have completed 40% of their credits and graduate students at least one semester.

Under the 2026 B call, the first 30 days paid MXN 25,000 for a non-Spanish-speaking country and MXN 20,000 for a Spanish-speaking one, with up to MXN 10,000 or MXN 7,500 for each further 30 days. Each center could nominate up to 20 students. Recipients file a report on their activities and results when they return, and they complete at least one activity that gives back to the university.

Library Courses and Thesis Deposit

The Biblioteca Digital of the Sistema Universitario de Bibliotecas taught 15 in-person courses to 3,730 users and 81 virtual courses to 2,969 users in 2025. Students and graduates sign in with their SIIAU code and NIP to reach its databases, e-books and journals, and the site lists reference managers among its tools for handling citations.

Graduates can add a finished thesis to the collection by signing an authorization letter and delivering it with the thesis to the Biblioteca Digital or the central library of any university center, and authors keep all rights. The RIUdeG guidelines accept theses at every level, with priority for graduate work, once the degree committee has approved them. A thesis without written authorization can be read on screen only, at RedUdeG libraries. The Repositorio Institucional lists more than 27,000 theses.

Applications, theses and journal articles in English all benefit from a last look at grammar, consistency and format, and our editors can give it.
