Grants and Writing Resources for the University of Lagos

UNILAG students took first, second and third place at the 2025 Bode Osunkoya Research Competition, held at the PSRG-Richardson Oil & Gas HSSE Forum in Lagos. The winning entry, from a chemical engineering student, used machine learning and open-source energy data to model energy growth scenarios for Nigeria. The runners-up came from mechanical engineering and pharmacy. In June 2026 a pair from the Faculty of Arts won the Inter-Faculty Debate and ₦200,000, with a final argued on how universities should respond to generative AI.

Where Research Is Presented

Six undergraduates won the Nigerian round of the 2024 CFA Institute Research Challenge in a field of 24 Nigerian universities. It was the fifth straight win for a UNILAG team. The students went on to the regional stage for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
