Grants and Writing Resources for Yeshiva University
A doctoral student in social welfare at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work received a CSWE MFP Doctoral Fellowship, from a program that has run for more than 50 years to increase the number of doctoral-trained social workers. A Katz School student in the M.S. in Artificial Intelligence won the Best Poster Award at Network Science Informs AI 2026, a satellite event of the NetSci 2026 conference, for a method that shrinks large datasets while keeping the features that show how the data is organized. YU News reported both honors in October 2026.
Research Money at Stern College
Stern College for Women lists its research programs on one academic enrichment page. The Kressel Grant, formally the Henry Kressel Research Scholarship Program, is for juniors and seniors who spend a year on a research project under a senior faculty member. Kressel Scholars receive a yearly stipend, travel money and research support, and they present their projects to the student body.
Students between their sophomore and junior years can apply for the SERC Fellowship, the Stern Einstein Research Connection. It places them in an introductory summer research experience at Albert Einstein College of Medicine with a stipend, mentoring from Stern alumnae at the medical school, and eligibility for summer housing on that campus.
Honors Theses and Graduate Talks
Stern College and Yeshiva College both end their honors programs with a thesis. In the S. Daniel Abraham Honors Program at Stern, the thesis is a four-credit sequence of three courses: a preliminary credit, a research credit and two credits of writing. Yeshiva College's Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Honors Program treats the senior thesis as the capstone of a student's college years. The faculty mentor grades it, and some of these theses have gone on to appear as peer-reviewed scientific papers, book chapters and books.
At the 2026 Science, Technology and Health Symposium, a Katz School speech-language pathology master's student presented research that questions the standard advice against whispering.
Two Writing Centers
YU runs two writing centers, Beren and Wilf, both open Sunday through Friday in the academic year and listed together on the Writing Centers page. The Beren Campus Writing Center books one-hour sessions in any discipline, from thesis statements and citations to recurring grammar problems and the senior thesis.
The Wilf Writing Center serves first-year writers and students writing research papers, and it also works with PhD candidates revising dissertations and faculty writing articles and books. Wurzweiler students have separate writing consultants, reached through the same Writing Centers page.
Dissertations
In the Ph.D. in Jewish Studies at the Bernard Revel Graduate School, a student develops a topic with a sponsor, faculty approve the proposal, and a committee is appointed. The finished dissertation follows the school's formatting guidelines and goes to an oral defense before the committee and other interested faculty. The Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology's Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, Health Emphasis sets two research milestones, a predoctoral project and the dissertation.
The University Libraries' Doctoral Dissertation Submission guide covers YU doctoral students. Students submit to ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global and to the Yeshiva Academic Institutional Repository (YAIR), the open-access archive, and the guide links formatting guidelines for six schools.
Before an honors thesis reaches a mentor or a dissertation reaches ProQuest, our editors can check its grammar, consistency and format. See our Yeshiva University dissertation and thesis editing and Yeshiva University essay editing pages, or write to editors@editorsforstudents.com.
