Grants and Writing Resources for National Cheng Kung University

Seven students from NCKU's Department of Systems and Naval Mechatronic Engineering, ranging from second-year undergraduates to second-year master's students, took their human-powered submarine to the 2026 European International Submarine Races in the United Kingdom. The NCKU Seawarrior team passed every inspection to qualify for the official races, one of 12 teams out of 19 to do so. It then won one of six places in the endurance race and finished it. Last time, it couldn't.

Conference and Overseas Funding

Students who aren't in in-service programs can apply to the Office of International Affairs for its subsidy for attending international conferences (出席國際會議補助), the same scheme that covers newly hired faculty and doctoral-level researchers. Keep your boarding pass, e-ticket and conference registration receipt. The office asks for them at reimbursement.

The office's overseas study and research scholarships page (赴外研習獎學金) lists programs open at bachelor's, master's and doctoral level. Among them are a scholarship for two-way cross-border study and research (學生跨國雙向研修獎助學金) and the Ministry of Education's study-abroad programs.

Graduate Scholarships

International master's and PhD students who meet the renewal requirements can renew the NCKU Distinguished International Student and International Student Scholarships, as long as they hold no other government scholarship. The Office of International Affairs also posts awardee lists for the Elite Doctoral Scholarship for continuing PhD students. In fall 2025 it went to 11 students in the colleges of engineering, science, medicine and management.

Where Theses Are Published

Master's theses and doctoral dissertations go into the library's thesis system, Theses and Dissertations of National Cheng Kung University (TDS). It lists 76,404 records, 76,384 of them with full text, and offers browsing and advanced search. The system also has its own rules for delaying a thesis's public release.

The library's graduation and thesis submission page sets out the steps. You upload the file with your NCKU portal login and wait for the library's review, then print the Authorization for Public Access of Thesis/Dissertation for you and your advisor to sign by hand. According to the Chinese version of the page, one print copy goes to the library, paperback for a master's thesis and hardcover for a doctoral dissertation, along with an electronic-thesis authorization for the National Central Library.

Our editors work with NCKU writers at the final-draft stage, from seminar papers to dissertations. See our National Cheng Kung University dissertation and thesis editing and National Cheng Kung University essay editing pages, or write to editors@editorsforstudents.com.
